It was a busy and exciting weekend when we harvested our honey back in September. The weather was perfect for harvesting so we dove into the hives to find out how much honey the bees (and the Lord) had granted us this year.

This is our 6th year owning an apiary but it is also the first year we captured a wild hive. Digging deep into our God given wild hive proved to be a challenge as they were an aggressive hive. However this hive out produced all the other hives when it came to honey and wax building.

We made this picture just for fun..

Harvesting took a lot longer than ever before because, much to our surprise, we had 109 pounds of honey! This out performed all our other years easily. The most we have ever harvested in the past was around 40 pounds. In fact, the wild hive did so well with wax we were able to sell a few jars of wax with honey. We also were able to sell the unrendered wax with honey as well. We sold out of both the wax and unrendered wax in the first few hours of posting it.

The harvesting of honey is a great experience for our kids. And the packaging it up is also enjoyable.

This years honey is very dark and rich flavored. The reason for this is the bees were able to source out lots of different pollen. This diversity offers its own unique flavor from our local area. We still have lots of honey for sale. So if you would like to buy some please contact us and we can meet up with you.
