Strawberry Spinach (Chenopodium capitatum syn. Blitum capitatum). Zone 2-9. This is a self sowing annual that comes back every year if you leave a few berries on the ground. These will produce berries all summer long. The leaves are spinach and can be eaten in your salad. The fruit is only slightly sweet and taste more like spinach then strawberries. The berries have lots of natural dyes. You can add it to your homemade lemon balm lemonade to make pink lemonade. The berries add a nice pop of color for your salad. The plant can slowly spread in your garden. But they are really easy to dig up and move to where you want it. They are easy to grow, easy to transplant, easy to dehydrate and you can have it forever.
