The Haskap berry bush (Lonicera caerulea). Zone 2-9. This is a perennial bush developed by Fruit Program at the University of Saskatchewan, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. It was created by cross breeding 2 different berry plants (one from Japan and one from Russia) to create this blueberry raspberry favored berry. It's one of the first bushes to bloom in the spring and the first to give you berries. It is great for honey bees because it provides flowers as early as April. The bushes can get quite large (4-6 feet) and give you a nice crop of berries. You need at least 2 bushes to make berries and they need to be different varieties.
